Some days, it’s hard than others to find something to write about. Some days I’m just preoccupied. Some days I’m just tired. Some days I just really don’t feel like I have anything to say. Some days I sit staring at the screen and my mind goes utterly blank.

Today is one of those days.

So, what do I do?

I write a bit. Delete it. Start again. Delete it. Ask Steven for help with a blog topic, and then shake my head at his suggestions. Check Facebook. Check in with my photography group. Check my email. Get caught up with the dozen different games of Words With Friends Scrabble I’m playing on my phone. Check Facebook again, and comment on a few friends’ status updates. Head back to the blog. Write a big more. Delete half of it. Write. Delete everything and start over. Browse the news headlines for a topic. Get a drink of water. Find a music video to watch on YouTube. Wake Electra up from a nightmare. Put on some chapstick. Bathroom break. Check my email again. Head over to my Fantasy Football and Pick ‘Em leagues on Yahoo to check my teams. Yawn. Stretch. Change positions to get comfortable. Take another drink of water. Reapply chapstick. Check Facebook. Curse under my breath when I see that one of my friends just 63-pointed me in our Scrabble game. Crack my knuckles. Head back to the blog. Finish it up, post it, and log off for the night.

Think that’s rough? You should see me when I get a really bad case of writer’s block. That little song and dance of elaborate procrastination can go on for days. Think I’m exaggerating? Just ask me how my novel is coming. 😉

Tonight’s 365 Project is dedicated to the million and one distractions that keep me so busy doing nothing. What are your biggest time wasting distractions?
