Merry Christmas!

Better late than never with our Christmas photos, I guess, but hey, at least I managed to get them posted while it’s still 2012.

Considering the year we’ve had, I consider that a great accomplishment.

All in all, I’d say we had a pretty great Christmas and I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Elf on the Shelf – Day 23, 24, & 25

I know I sort of fell off the face of the Earth with the final three installments of the Elf on the Shelf saga, but it was a busy couple of days leading up to Christmas.

Here’s how it went down…

Cosette thought we needed to be reminded to do our holiday baking. She must have been reading my mind, because it was on the to-do list. Cadence was so excited to help!

We started with chocolate chip, and ended up with an assortment of chocolate chip, frosted sugar, peanut butter blossoms, spritz, and both chocolate and peanut butter chocolate swirl fudge. Mmmm…

The next morning, Cadence was surprised to find Cosette still hanging out in the kitchen. Apparently Cosette likes cookies as much as Santa, and we quickly learned that she has a particular weakness for chocolate chip…

You know we couldn’t let Cosette eat alone…

And finally, with all of our baking done, Christmas Eve was upon us. We found Cosette that morning reading the story of Jesus’ birth in Cadence’s Bible.

And after reading it ourselves, we headed to Christmas Eve service at Church. Afterward, we had a delicious Chinese food dinner from our favorite China House restaurant, and a Skype date with Nonna Dawn, Poppa Mark, Aunt Kassie, Uncle Jeremy, Uncle Beau, Uncle Eddie, and cousin Julian in Texas.

Then, it was time to set out a glass of milk and a plate of homemade cookies for Santa. Cadence gave Cosette and big hug and kiss goodbye, and then headed up to bed.

Elf on the Shelf – Day 21

Sorry it took so long, but between the dozens upon dozens of photos I took, and then yesterday’s snowstorm knocking out our power, it took me forever to get these done and uploaded. So, without, further ado, I give you Gingerbread House Mayem!

Cadence woke up in the morning to find a very special surprise. Cosette had brought a note from Santa. In the letter, Santa told Cadence how proud he was that she did such a wonderful job in her school program, and that she was doing such an amazing job with her potty training and no longer wearing pull-ups to school. Because of all this, Santa thought Cadence deserved a little something special, and sent Cosette back from her nightly North Pole visit with a gingerbread house kit for Cadence to build and decorate.

We had a quick breakfast, and got ready. I made sure I set the camera up so I could follow Santa’s instructions and take lots of pictures. Cadence just wanted to get started already.

2012-12-19_0004

But the best surprise of the day was Cadence’s godmother Tammy dropping by for a visit. Now, we were ready to begin!

At first, I thought it was going to be a struggle to keep Cadence from eating all the candy and frosting, but she was all business. She didn’t even sneak a taste! She was far too busy helping Tammy squeeze the frosting into place and placing the candies just so.

Of course, when we were finally done and told her it was okay to take a little taste, she went whole hog and started squeezing leftover frosting onto her finger and one of the little plates from her kitchen. At one point, she even begged me to squeeze it directly into her mouth, but that was where I drew the line.

Elf on the Shelf – Day 20

Who doesn’t love sushi?

2012-12-18_0002

We’re big fans in this house. All of us…even the kids.

Don’t knock it ’til you try it folks.

2012-12-18_0001

And when Cadence found Cosette and Rango in the middle of their little sushi date this morning, she jumped right in and played waitress and brought them refills on their tea.

Elf on the Shelf – Day 17, 18, & 19

Yes, I’m playing catch up again. I hate it, but the whatever this sickness was that hit our house, it was brutal! I spent Friday night and all of Saturday in a feverish stupor. If it weren’t for the fact that both Steven and Cadence were feeling better and keeping each other entertained, I’m not sure we all would have survived. And major kudos to my hubby for remembering to keep up with Cosette’s antics while I was down with the sickness.

Silly elf.

Friday morning, she made us laugh with her pin art self-portraits…

And Saturday morning, we discovered her dunking herself in Cadence’s little toy basketball hoop…

And, just this morning, we found her hiding in the bookshelf…
