Project Life 365 – Day 2 – You Today

This is me, today, in bullet points…

*I am a sleeptalker, and occasional sleepwalker. When I was 4, I almost walked out the back door of the house in the middle of the night, and in college I once cleaned my entire dorm room in my sleep.

*I am addicted to coffee and chocolate, and I’m proud of it. Give me a freshly brewed cup of Bad Ass Tropical Coconut coffee and a Cadbury Creme Egg and I’m in heaven.

*I have a 5-minute Complaint Rule that I live by–Bitch and moan all you want for 5 minutes. After that, it’s time to move on and figure out what you need to do to fix the problem.

*I am ridiculously good a first-person shooter games. I have yet to meet anyone who can beat me playing multiplayer mode on James Bond or Perfect Dark.

*I believe that some people come into my life for the sole purpose of teaching me patience.

*I love taking photos, and HATE having my own photo taken…so this is likely the last one you’ll see for awhile.

*I secretly want to be an FBI profiler and catch serial killers…or work on the X-Files. 😉

*I arrange books on my bookshelves by author, subject, and size.

*I have never, and refuse to ever, carry a purse. If it doesn’t fit in my pockets or my camera bag, I don’t need to waste energy hauling it around.

*I believe that you can’t truly be happy or reach your fullest potential unless you live a balanced life.

*Unlike my husband, I cannot work at an empty desk. He calls it clutter, but from that organized mess, I draw my inspiration.

*After living in Arizona for 3. 5 years, I realized I cannot survive without changing seasons. And yes, that means snow.

*I love movies, and I’ve seen a lot of truly amazing films over the years. And yet, if I were told I had to choose just one favorite, it would still be Dirty Dancing.

*I believe we are all here for a reason.

*I have never been able to meditate in the traditional sit-in-a-dark-room-close-your-eyes-and-clear-your-mind-of-all-thoughts sort of way. But I believe that being mindful and fully focused on the present moment has the same therapeutic results.

*If I won the lottery, I would take classes for the rest of my life and travel the globe.

*I very seldom enjoy watching a movie or television show for pure entertainment. I prefer something I can analyze and dissect and think about instead.

*There’s something about string instruments–piano, violin, cello, guitar, etc.–that hits me right in the soul. One day, I’d like to learn to play them.

*I have a love/hate relationship with bananas.

*I cannot sleep without covers, even when it’s hot.

*I was in labor for almost 72 hours, and I have no idea what a contraction feels like. Because of this, my husband (and a small group of nurses in Arizona) believe that I have superhuman powers.

*Carol Burnett holds the #1 spot on my People I’d Like to Have a Beer With list.

*I showed sheep in barrel-raced in 4-H when I was younger. You city-folk who don’t know what those things are should probably look them up. 🙂

*I handwrite at least one draft of everything before typing it (with the exception of blog posts).

*If I could only listen to one band for the rest of my life, it would be Heart. Those women have been rockin’ for nearly four decades now and still sound as amazing as when they first started. Obviously, they’re doing it right.

*I believe in God, ghosts, guardian angels, and gratitude. I believe that you reap what you sow. I believe that there is evil in this world, but there is far more goodness. I believe that miracles happen every day, if we take the time to notice them. I believe that people can change, if they really want to. I believe in saying sorry. I believe in hugs, handshakes, hard work, and humility. I believe that one smile and one small act of kindness can turn a whole day around. I believe you should always trust your intuition. I believe in taking chances. I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if we can’t understand it at that moment. I believe in love at first sight, losing yourself in a good book, and letting go.

*One day, I will write a book.

Just A Few More Easter Photos

Just had to post a few more to finish up the set. We’ve got the egg-dyeing festivities…

Cadence and Daddy making goofy faces…

A try at a family photo. But, oh wait, where’s Electra?

And here’s what happens when you try to get an uncoordinated hound dog up on a porch swing…

Cadence woke up Easter morning, and the first sounds we heard through the baby monitor were, “Bunny? Bunny? Hide eggs? He’s here! Bunny! Eggs!” So, we hopped out of bed, got her dressed and headed downstairs to investigate. By the back door, we found our empty egg carton, and Cadence was hot on the trail…

And here’s the little drama queen doing her best to squeeze out a tear when we headed back inside and she thought the fun was over.

But as soon as she found out that we get to open and peel all the eggs, she was happy as a clam again and ready to help Daddy…

Luckily, she managed to eat a couple hard boiled eggs and drink some milk before she discovered the candy in her basket…

But all bets were off when she found a Cadbury Egg. Looks like she inherited her parents’ Cadbury Egg addiction. First bite = heaven!

And we wrapped up the day in a chocolate coma, watching movies and baseball and playing with some new toys.

It was definitely a Happy Easter! 🙂

Happy Easter!

So, there are a whole lot more photos to share, both from the egg dyeing yesterday and the hunting today, but I’m exhausted and can only manage to upload a few. So, you’ll just have to wait.

But, in the meantime, here are Cadence’s two favorite parts of the day…

1. Finding all the eggs that the sneaky ol’ Easter Bunny hid in the yard

2. Devouring a Cadbury Creme Egg after breakfast…

Obviously Cadbury Egg addiction is genetic. Looks like Steven and I will have to increase the number we usually stockpile when we hit the after Easter sales. 🙂

Hope everyone had a wonderful day! I’ll get back to posting more tomorrow. In the meantime, it’s time for this girl to get some sleep. Zzzzz…
