Had some fun with the kiddos today coloring Easter eggs. Minimal breakage, and just one minor battle when Cadence apparently looked at one of Henry’s eggs wrong and he felt the need to give her a jab in the ribs.
Bring on the Easter Bunny.
Keep writing…Keep writing…
Cadence has been counting down the days to our annual Easter Egg Dyeing Extravaganza, so when H-man finally settled down for his morning nap, it took her all of 1.6 seconds to tear open the decorating kit and get down to business.
She picked out some sort of super-extra-bonus-deluxe-giganto-kit this year that had just about everything a kid could possibly want for crafting some truly awesome Easter eggs. There were dye tablets, paint, brushes, sponges, a clear crayon to draw invisible designs that would reveal themselves later when the eggs were dyed or painted, glue, glitter, sequins, little shiny green plastic bits, stickers, stretchy bands that fit snug around the egg so you could drop them in the dye and leave a perfect strip of pure white egg shell between the two halves of color.
And you know that Cadence wouldn’t be satisfied until she tried every last bit. The girl definitely has her own unique artistic flair, and we had a blast making this year’s batch of beautiful eggs.
Henry woke up from his nap about three-quarters of the way through the whole process, and didn’t quite know what to think. He sat and watched for awhile, his brow furrowed as he tried to decide whether he was interested in what we were doing, or pissed that we weren’t allowing him to participate. It didn’t take long for us to win him over with our laughing and joking and singing along to the music we were blaring as we worked.
I even managed to get a few pics of my two little maniacs together. And I love that I managed to catch a couple pics of Cadence harassing Henry with her over-zealous kissing (which happens around here on a daily basis), because his faces are always priceless.
I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday. Bring on the Easter Bunny. We’re ready for you.
As we celebrate Easter and say goodbye to March, it’s time to welcome the warmer weather and begin April with a sense of renewal and hope. There are some very exciting things on our horizon–new job, new schedules, new opportunities, road trips, family vacations.
Our lives have been blessed in so many ways.
And even spending a lazy weekend at home recovering from a recent run-in with an icky stomach bug, we enjoyed our time together and made some great memories.
Here are my favorite photos from this year’s Easter Egg hunt…
And just one last collage to serve as a Public Service Announcement (and to prove just how ill-fitting girls’/women’s jeans are, even in kid’s sizes). Just remember kids…crack kills.
Just had to post a few more to finish up the set. We’ve got the egg-dyeing festivities…
Cadence and Daddy making goofy faces…
A try at a family photo. But, oh wait, where’s Electra?
And here’s what happens when you try to get an uncoordinated hound dog up on a porch swing…
Cadence woke up Easter morning, and the first sounds we heard through the baby monitor were, “Bunny? Bunny? Hide eggs? He’s here! Bunny! Eggs!” So, we hopped out of bed, got her dressed and headed downstairs to investigate. By the back door, we found our empty egg carton, and Cadence was hot on the trail…
And here’s the little drama queen doing her best to squeeze out a tear when we headed back inside and she thought the fun was over.
But as soon as she found out that we get to open and peel all the eggs, she was happy as a clam again and ready to help Daddy…
Luckily, she managed to eat a couple hard boiled eggs and drink some milk before she discovered the candy in her basket…
But all bets were off when she found a Cadbury Egg. Looks like she inherited her parents’ Cadbury Egg addiction. First bite = heaven!
And we wrapped up the day in a chocolate coma, watching movies and baseball and playing with some new toys.
It was definitely a Happy Easter! 🙂
So, there are a whole lot more photos to share, both from the egg dyeing yesterday and the hunting today, but I’m exhausted and can only manage to upload a few. So, you’ll just have to wait.
But, in the meantime, here are Cadence’s two favorite parts of the day…
1. Finding all the eggs that the sneaky ol’ Easter Bunny hid in the yard
2. Devouring a Cadbury Creme Egg after breakfast…
Obviously Cadbury Egg addiction is genetic. Looks like Steven and I will have to increase the number we usually stockpile when we hit the after Easter sales. 🙂
Hope everyone had a wonderful day! I’ll get back to posting more tomorrow. In the meantime, it’s time for this girl to get some sleep. Zzzzz…
