There might still be a little snow on the ground, and some cooler-than-normal temperatures in the near future, but the green will not be deterred. Spring just might come yet…

Project Life 365 – Day 78 – In the House
Sorry folks. Couldn’t do it. After a long winter cooped up inside, getting snowed in, an epic battle with a stomach bug, and a report of one last nasty winter storm on the way, I just couldn’t stand to be in the house today. The sun was peeking out from behind the cotton ball clouds. Yesterday’s ferocious wind had blown itself out. And the mercury was creeping just shy of 50 degrees when Cadence woke from her nap. And that’s what I call a recipe for an afternoon enjoying the great outdoors.
And yeah, we had a blast…
Having Fun, Colorado-Style
Tomorrow is my little sister Whitney’s junior prom, which means I will be spending the entire day with my camera glued to my face in full paparazzi-mode. I can’t wait! 🙂
But, for today, I busted the camera out just to get some fun shots of Miss Cadence with her Pawpoo Shawn, Granny Wendy, Aunt Whitney, and Uncle Collin. We spent most of the afternoon outdoors, soaking up the sun and the 70-degree weather and having a blast. Of course, you know I probably shot several hundred photos, but I managed to whittle it down to a couple dozen of my favorites to share on the blog. Here’s how we have fun, Colorado-style…

You Should Smell Like Dirt
“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” -Margaret Atwood
I’ve always been an “outdoor girl”. Staying cooped up inside for very long tends to make me a little crazy. I need sunshine and fresh air. I need to feel the wind on my face. And to be quite honest, I need a little dirt on my hands. It makes me feel alive and grounded and connected to something bigger than myself.
When Steven and I moved into our new house in December, one of the things we were most excited about was the big chunk of property it was sitting on. We pictured ourselves barbecuing on the patio, hanging out on the front porch swing, and chasing Cadence and Electra around the yard. And now that the weather is finally warming up, we’re really getting a chance to enjoy it. It felt so good today to hang outside with my two favorite girls, working in the yard, soaking up the sun, enjoying the beautiful day.
Of course you know I brought the camera.
Every day, we see something new blooming…
And I couldn’t help but to snap a few (um…a lot) of photos of Electra lounging on the front porch. There’s just something about a hound on a porch…
And Miss Cadence was very excited to wear the new pair of shades her Grandma Jayne bought for her. I might be biased, but I think she looks like a rock star. 🙂
And I love that I was able to catch her faker faker bellyacher drama queen pout on film today. Makes me laugh every time.
So tell me, what are you enjoying this spring?
Welcome Back Spring!
With temperatures climbing to the 70’s today, there was no way we were going to spend the day indoors. Cadence and I had an absolute blast enjoying the beautiful weather with my sister Lindy and her son Odin.
There were swing rides…
And a halfway decent back porch step photo op…
…before Cadence attempted to jump off the top step and got both kiddos banned from the steps for the rest of the afternoon.
There was a ninja demonstration…
And a whole lot of running, jumping, bouncing, throwing and divebombing in the giant leaf pile…
And let me tell ya, you’d be amazed at how much foliage collects in a a 2-year-old’s butt crack after an hour or two. 🙂
There was some serious cuteness…
A whole lot of hugs…
And a whole lot of fun to go around.
Now that is what I call a good day!
