I don’t know if it is possible to have a better 4th of July than we had today. We escaped the heat by heading to a mountain cabin just outside Blackhawk, Colorado that belongs to my stepmom Wendy’s parents, and we all had a fantastic time.
I’m sure I’ll be sharing more of these photos once I’m able to upload them all. I managed to fill an entire 16 GB memory card, so I have just a few to choose from. Here are just a few of the highlights from today.
Cadence had fun playing with her Aunt Whitney in the yard near the creek…
And gathering dirt and rocks with her Granny Wendy in the driveway…
The boys had fun playing catch and throwing the football around…
Until Steven accidentally stepped on the ball and rolled his ankle. Luckily, he was able to walk it off, and even went on a hike later.
Poor Electra had to stay on the tie out because the creek is running fast and there are mountain lions and bears that frequent the area. The resident squirrels and chipmunks spent the afternoon taunting her by playing and eating just out of reach…
I staked out one of the hummingbird feeders for a few minutes, and managed to get some pretty nice shots of a few of the speedy little guys…
And Uncle Collin managed to catch a trout in the creek, and showed his expertise in cleaning fish…
Then, just before it was time to head in to Blackhawk for the big fireworks, we broke out the watermelon for a little refreshment. It was a big hit with Cadence…
And last but not least, we capped off a perfect evening with a spectacular firework show…
Today’s 365 Project is dedicated to a day well spent, celebrating the birth of our great nation. There’s no better way to celebrate than surrounded by family, food and fireworks. Happy Independence Day!!!
It is really pretty at Wendy’s folks. The picture of the humming bird and the pictures of the fireworks are really good. Of course the other pictures are also good. Glad you had a good time.
Thanks Mom! It is gorgeous up at the cabin. It’s always such a relaxing place to visit.
Looks like a wonderful day…thanks for sharing the pics! : ]
